Kristin (Kri) Korte, clinical research coordinator for WashU Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry, says the moms she works with are her primary motivation in her role. Korte, who has been with WashU since 2022, knows her daily work contributes to making the community a better and safer place and contributes to the missions of WashU.

Part of her role includes being a study navigator for Healthy Brain and Child Development (HBCD), a counselor and peer for the Perinatal Behavioral Health Service’s (PBHS) Care Clinic at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Korte is also a Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor, a Certified Peer Support Specialist and is training to be a doula.

I love to see someone who was struggling with sobriety work hard and achieve it and can bring their baby home with them. I love to see them follow my career path and become peers themselves. I love to see them thrive in whatever they decide to do and the happiness they carry in getting their lives back.

Korte credits her team for providing a supportive and collaborative environment, making her work enjoyable as they strive to help families. Making a difference is at the core of what Korte does. She encourages anyone considering a job at WashU to pursue it because of the people.

“We have such an amazing group of caring individuals that show our patients and participants respect and go above and beyond for them,” Korte said.

Korte enjoys spending time with her family and pets, watching sports and traveling. Recently, she purchased a travel trailer and is looking forward to many trips and camping under the stars.
