Building relationships with peers across WashU and supporting colleagues are at the core of what Kate Ruzicka does. An administrative coordinator II in the Department of Neurology at WashU Medicine, she works for the Hope Center for Neurological Disorders, Office of Neuroscience Research (ONR) and the Transcend Initiative, Children and Youth Collaborative Network (CYCN). Ruzicka has been with WashU since 2007.
“Kate consistently goes above and beyond in everything she does,” Blanka Hodzic, project and program coordinator at the Taghert Lab, said. “She is always willing to step in to assist whenever needed and is such an incredible team player.”
Through her work, Ruzicka manages email communications, website updates and gathering and sharing information across WashU to help connect neuroscience researchers on the Danforth and the Medical campuses. She shared that her favorite part of the job is the collaboration across the different labs, departments and schools.

During her time at WashU, Ruzicka has been fortunate to work with amazing mentors and colleagues. When she isn’t working, Ruzicka enjoys spending time with her family, specifically her nieces and nephews; traveling, especially to cold beaches and Scotland, spending time at Forest Park, Cardinals games and CITY soccer games. She also enjoys reading, watching movies and golf.
