In her day-to-day work, Emma Steckelberg, clerkship coordinator for the WashU Law Career Center, helps law students apply for clerkships with judges that are often competitive and prestigious positions.
“Seeing students who are driven, diligent and earnest work tirelessly to secure a clerkship drives me to do everything I can to help them on their journey,” Steckelberg said. “Sharing in their joy when they get an offer and watching all of their hard work payoff is the biggest reward; I’m so deeply proud of all of them.”
Steckelberg, who started at WashU in 2022, said she stays for the opportunity to work alongside creative, passionate colleagues and to support students she believes will go on to do amazing things.
WashU is unique compared to other organizations I’ve worked in because there is a deep undercurrent of hope when working with students, knowing that they will go on to do amazing things in the world

She encourages anyone considering a career at WashU to apply, emphasizing the opportunities for both personal and professional growth.
Outside of work, Steckelberg enjoys spending time with her wife, their dog Patches and their cat Chunky. Her family lives near Tower Grove Park. They often walk there to attend events like Tower Grove Pride, Festival of Nations and Food Truck Fridays. Being so close to many different, unique and amazing restaurants is something she doesn’t take for granted.
