Knowing the impact WashU has had on the St. Louis community is what brought Caroline Menie back to the university. Menie, a physician assistant in Urology Surgery at WashU Medicine since 2024, previously worked as a clinical research aid. That positive experience, combined with her passion for patient care, ultimately led her to return to WashU.

In my role, my number one driver is the ability to improve lives. And the personal growth from that, in addition to the human connections I make, is such a fulfilling experience.

Menie finds it rewarding to use her education and experience to make a meaningful impact on patients’ lives. She values the relationships she builds with colleagues and coworkers, whose different backgrounds and perspectives continue to shape her personally and professionally. Those connections, she said, strengthen her ability to serve the community through her work.

Menie feels closely connected to WashU’s missions. She is especially motivated by the university’s leadership in research, education and patient care, as well as a culture she believes values and supports its employees.

“I would tell others considering a position within WashU that they should consider joining an organization that betters the community and fosters an environment of learning, support and diversity,” Menie said. “There is no place like it.”

As someone who likes to do it all, outside of work Menie enjoys working out, trips with friends, dinner with family, house projects, baking, golfing, swimming and watching movies.
